Theory Audit — Field Note 08: Gate Formation
A theory audit of inspection, deployment and allocation in the governance of frontier artificial intelligence. Thirty-five sources were selected across six folders for explanatory proximity, evidential leverage or disconfirming value.
Assessment
The Three-Gate Architecture is a provisional framework for mapping decision rights over the inspection, deployment and allocation of frontier artificial-intelligence capability. It is not a new general theory or a completed regime. Existing theory explains the component parts; the non-trivial residual is their frontier-AI-specific configuration around three distinct decision objects under divided public-private control.
The cleanest theoretical position is familiar governance instruments around an unusually concentrated and configurable strategic capability, organised through a useful new map of where decisions are made.
